Supermicro New Zealand
A Versatile 5U Platform
30 April 2008
The Compucon engineering team has managed a minor technological break-through and herewith we are pleased to announce a new versatile 5U platform (tower or rack) with three impressive features for registered Supermicro New Zealand channel members:
- Choice of Single Socket or Dual Socket Quad Core Xeon processors for either good price/performance or maximum computational performance
- Choice of 5, 8, 10, 16 and 24 front loaded hot swappable HDD on RAID for maximum storage size, speed and protection
- Plenty of PCI-X and PCI-Express slots for expansion cards
The HDD capacities are in addition to a couple of spare bays that can install a DVD Rom, Rewriter and/or a Tape Drive, for instance.
We offer 9 variations of HDD combinations, namely with SATA and/or SAS, and standard desktop size (3.5") and/or laptop size (2.5"). All combinations will be supported with Hardware RAID. If your applications require large disk capacities, go for low cost SATA. In case your applications require high Input and Output processing rate for rather small data blocks, go for high performance SAS. We can install a mix of them in the same system.
We can configure a full range of RAID types from 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 5EE etc. The choice of RAID shall be decided by balancing costs with requirements. We will provide advice as desired.
An additional bonus is that the system will be quieter during operation than a 4U or 3U rack, while offering more capacity and flexibility.
Whatever you decide to have, the Compucon team will do all the engineering work of integrating all subsystems, configuring and testing the entire system including the operating system and RAID. Furthermore, Compucon will apply an ISO-9001 certified procedure to handle the integration process and will eliminate a lot of potential faults that you may have experienced from other vendor products. This means you will have a solid and ready-to-run system when delivered.
Yes, the platform is compatible with popular software or bare-metal based hyper visors. In particular, it is compatible with VMware 3i as this has been verified by Supermicro.
The price is extremely competitive especially when we consider the huge amount of engineering and quality assurance values included. Contact Supermicro New Zealand for quotations.
